Hey Folks, it's time to erase the big city map again so I can use this grid for battle maps etc, but we had a fun 6 sessions or so in the city. And at this point I feel confident I will be redrawing it again someday for another group of players as I have 3 or 4 times.

The city depicted has gone by many names, but I took inspiration from Istanbul, Sultanahmet Plaza, Which seemed like a fun fantasy place to explore, the two large circles near the bottom are two temples, inspired by the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, they make great places for healing, lore dumps, and quest hooks. If the players need context or want to seek out a learned scholar, they can surely find one at one of the two large temples easily visible from anywhere in the city, they just have to pick one, and figure out how to get in the door.

Between the two temples is a Hippodrome (a racetrack) players can bet on races and even participate themselves. In the middle of the track is an obelisk, a fountain shaped like 3 snakes, and a gazebo, each have puzzles to be solved and traps to avoid that can change depending on the campaign.

In the top right is a Grand Bazaar where tons of different specialty shops can be found and haggled with, sold to, robbed, etc. In the bottom right is a high security palace based on Tokapi, there are magic items inside if you can plan a heist to steal them. There is also a central clock tower, an obvious inn a gladiator arena, a training ground where you can pay for extra proficiencies, a pirate ship stuck on land for some reason, a zoo, a Turkish bath, a gambling den, a fortune teller a la LTTP, and a giant hole in the ground leading to an underground cistern below the city.

I love to drop this map with minimal breadcrumbs, and let my players ask about the different areas the same way their characters might if they were new to town and exploring. Then whatever building they decide they want to hear more about can lead to new adventures. Whether they want to make money,

spend money, fight someone, explore a dungeon, or deepen their own characters story through RP they can find a place to do it here, and do them in any order they prefer.

Usually by the end their hijinks result in making some local faction mad and there is a big map wide-battle in the streets.

Steal this map, make it your own. Feel free to ask questions about what NPCS I have living here and what I do with all the various buildings but the general answer is "That depends on the individual campaign, but it's nice to have a bunch of places that look unique and feel interconnected. You can use them for whatever you want"
